What the Conversation Club is like

The club meets once a week on Google Meet for 55 minutes. Six seats, $10 a class, and you book one class at a time.

There are six seats. By the end of the hour you know who everybody is and where they’re calling from, and people are using your name.

Made for A2 to B2

There’s nothing to prepare and no homework before you arrive. You come with the English you have today and we work with that.

It’s fine to get stuck

Everybody loses a word sometimes. You can stop and think about it, or say it a different way, or ask me and I’ll give it to you. The room waits while you do.

A fun topic every week

I bring a topic each week, something we can all have an opinion about. After that the talking goes where it goes. Most weeks we finish somewhere I didn’t plan.

Nobody in this room has perfect English. It’s an easy room to talk in.

Questions people ask

Are you a native speaker?
Yes. I’m American, from New York, and you hear an American accent in every video.
Is my English good enough?
Yes. I make my videos for A2 to B2 because that’s most people, but the room is for everyone. There’s always somebody here at your level, and usually somebody a little above you as well.
How long is it, and where?
55 minutes on Google Meet, once a week. You get the link when you book, and there’s nothing to download. It works in your browser on a phone or a laptop.
How do I pay?
You pay when you book, on the booking page. It’s $10 a class and you book one class at a time, so there is no subscription and nothing to cancel.
What if I can’t come one week?
Nothing happens. You book one class at a time, so there’s no subscription and nothing to cancel. Come back the week you’re free and book again.
Do I have to turn my camera on?
No. Some people show their face, some people show a photo and a name, and nobody will ask you why. You can change your mind any week.
What if I don’t say much?
That’s normal. Most people listen more than they talk the first time, because you’re still learning the voices and how the room sounds, and I don’t push anybody to speak. The second time you already know who’s there, and it’s easier.
What if I’m too shy to start?
I bring the topic, so you never have to think of what to say first. Nobody here has perfect English, and everybody was new once. Listen for the first ten minutes if you want. That’s fine too.
Will you correct my mistakes?
Not usually. This room is for using your English. If you want me to correct something, ask me and I will. The rest of the time we just talk.
What if I don’t like it?
Then don’t book the next one. You pay one class at a time, so the most you can lose is $10 and 55 minutes. Tell me what was wrong and I will listen.
